I recently decided to make spicy curry chicken which includes 19 ingredients so I stopped by the first Indian store off Hillcroft with high prices and limited spices selection. I needed two more spices they did not have so I searched Yelp and called Vishal's Grocery ahead of time to ask if they carried Kalapsi and Kapok buds. Yes! When I arrived it was very busy, clean stocked with tons of spices and pastries. Right away I was asked by a gentleman if I needed help and was lead to the spices I needed and checked out. This store is very bright clean, well stocked and prices reasonable. I look forward to exploring different Indian recipes and returning. ”

“ Its a very convenient Indian/Pakistani grocery store to cater the people in and around the Energy Corridor. They have no competitors in their close vicinity as of Spring 2020. Its indeed so convenient that we don't need to drive to Hillcroft. Also, I dont like driving to Hillcroft unless I absolutely need to. And I'm glad that we get everything here at Vishala! Store is clean and organized. However, they really need to expand their space. Narrow aisles and hence, on a high traffic day, it gets so congested to the point that two person couldn't easily cross between the aisles nor any room to move the shopping carts. They are well stocked with regular Indian groceries from fresh produce to staple foods to snacks etc. On certain random weekdays they offer sale on fresh produce. I always get their cilantros on sale. They also have some food/snacks at the checkout counter. We have tried their samosas twice, dint like it. Samosa's filling has no taste and the outer crust is over fried on apparently old used oil. It's tempting when it's displayed at the counter but resist yourself and buy the Haldiram's samosa from their frozen section instead. Nice staff, people at the checkout counters are efficient and so the lines keep moving fast. It's located in a shopping area with plenty of parking lot. ”

“ I recently began experimenting with making Indian food at home and wanted to branch out from Mango Pickle as an accompaniment so I researched and found Vishala Grocery. I found it to be well-stocked, extremely organized and very clean. There was no smell at all. The variety of Indian condiments was incredible and took up an entire aisle. I should also mention that the pricing was excellent and cheaper than what I've seen at WalMart or HEB for similar items. Lastly, the staff were extremely welcoming and courteous. My haul included 4 different jars of Indian pickles to try as well as a big bag of dried red lentils. The lime pickle is pretty intensely flavored but calms down when mixed into plain yogurt. I'm looking forward to trying everything else and going back to Vishala again. What a wonderful, interesting place! ”

“ I usually go to the Vishala near Hwy 6 but they stopped carrying my favorite brand of dosa/uttapam batter. Luckily this store still carries it. This store actually had more in terms of fresh veggies including jackfruit which is a rare sight. If you shop here I highly recommend buying the Ganesh Anand brand of dosa batter. It has simple ingredients and no added chemicals. Reminds me of the dough my parents used to make at home when I was a kid. ”
